The Thermaic Gulf, the reason for founding the city of Thessaloniki, has always made it an important commercial, economic and military centre. For centuries, travelers, merchants and ship crews crossed its waters and experienced its beauty from the sea side. But who can imagine today that the bottom of the Thermaic Gulf could be a revelation for the city’s history itself? Nikos Kavvadias, the famous Greek poet, suggests that “Thessaloniki must only be viewed by boat”.
Driven by his words, we share stories through a different tour in the sea, we get to know well-hidden secrets and unknown stories of the city that are hidden at the bottom of the Thermaic Gulf and we observe monuments, landmarks and Thessaloniki’s magnificent view from the sea side.
